Thank you for allowing us to be part of your care.
If you need your medical records sent to another provider, a completed Release of Information form is required. If you do not have the form that was mailed to you, you can access it HERE. Completed forms may be mailed to our current mailing address or sent to clinicop@bismarckderm.com.
We will continue handling record requests through July. After that time, our records custodian will handle all requests for records and that information will be added to our website in late July. Please be assured that your medical records are secure and will continue to be available for years to come.
We have already received thousands of record requests, so processing will take time. We appreciate your patience and want to assure you that all requests will be processed.
If you would like to make a payment by credit card or HSA card, you can mail your payment information to our current address, as listed on your statement. If you don't have a current statement, please be sure to include the patient's name, date of birth, amount to be paid, and your card information.

Accutane
Also known as isotretinoin, is a prescription medication designed to treat severe acne that hasn't responded to other treatments like topical medications or antibiotics. It works by reducing the amount of oil (sebum) produced by the skin, preventing clogged pores, and decreasing inflammation.
Who is Accutane For?
Accutane is typically recommended for individuals with:
-
Severe nodular or cystic acne.
-
Acne that causes scarring or significant emotional distress.
-
Acne that hasn't improved with other treatments.
It's a powerful solution, but it's not for everyone. Dr. Cornatzer or Morgan Reese, PA-C will evaluate your skin condition, medical history, and lifestyle to determine if Accutane is right for you.
How Does Accutane Work?
Accutane targets acne at its root by:
-
Reducing Oil Production: It significantly decreases the oil produced by sebaceous glands, minimizing the changes of clogged pores.
-
Shrinking Sebaceous Glands: It reduces the size of these glands, further lowering oil production.
-
Fighting Inflammation: Accutane helps reduce redness and swelling associated with acne.
-
Preventing New Acne: By addressing the factors that cause acne, it helps prevent future breakouts.
What to Expect During Treatment
-
Dosage: Treatment usually lasts 6 months, with the dosage tailored to your specific needs.
-
Results: Many people see improvements within the first few months, with long-lasting results after completing treatment.
-
Side Effects: Common side effects include dry skin, lips, and eyes, as well as increased sun sensitivity. Your doctor will monitor your progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed.
Important Considerations
-
Pregnancy Warning: Accutane can cause serious birth defects. Women who take Accutane must use two forms of birth control and have regular pregnancy tests during treatment.
-
Regular Monitoring: Blood tests are required to check liver function and other factors.
-
Lifestyle Adjustments: You may need to avoid alcohol, certain medications, and excessive sun exposure during treatment.
After Treatment
Once your Accutane treatment is complete, you'll likely enjoy clearer skin and fewer breakouts. Your doctor may recommend a gentle skincare routine to maintain your results and protect your skin.
